Neutral age gate
Collect only the minimum age and state information needed to route the user.
Do not suggest an age answer that unlocks access.
Do not continue collecting tutoring content after the system has reliable knowledge that a user is under 13.
Use a documented escalation process for inconsistent or suspicious age information.
COPPA actual-knowledge response
If Klarity has actual knowledge that it is collecting personal information from a child under 13, ordinary student use must stop, and the Privacy team must determine deletion, limited retention, parental notice, or another lawful action under the current COPPA Rule. Klarity’s launch model is to block known under-13 users rather than operate an under-13 service.
Turning 18
A Parent-Managed Account does not transition. The student must create a new Adult Student Account. No data or commercial relationship transfers automatically.
